Kerryn McCann passes away overnight

Local sporting hero Kerryn McCann passed away last night after a long battle with breast cancer at the age of 41.

Kerryn McCann is survived by her husband Greg and her three small children; Benton, 11, Josie, 5 and Cooper, 14 months.

The marathon runner won two gold Commonwealth Games. One in 2006 at Melbourne and another in Manchester in 2002. Kerryn also represented Australia at three Olympic games.

Kerryn McCann is described as a “phenomenon” in a statement from the Prime Ministers office, “today our nation mourns the loss of a wonderful wife and mother, a champion athlete and a truly great Australian”.
